A  young Crouch End-based boy band has joined an elite group of talented young song-writers for PRS for Music’s Class of 2010 event, which was set up to recognise and support the UK’s most promising up and coming talent.
The band, Lo Fi Culture Scene, is made up of five 16-year-old members: Callum Akass, Jacob Wheldon, Tom Herzberg, Thomas Maccoll and Angus Mayer.
Following the band’s first song, Make the Most of it, the band has had two singles broadcast on Radio 1 and MTV. Having only recently finished their GCSEs, the band already has aspirations to release more music early next year.
Band member Wheldon, said: “Writing music not only allows you to express yourselves, it also provides a unique experience for us to enjoy together.”
The Class of 2010 event included advice from Stuart Belsham from Member Services on making the most of a PRS for Music membership, Jules Parker from Membership Development who gave expert tips on promotion, and Laura Whitticase from the PRS for Music Foundation who talked through funding opportunities.
